At Kiril Mischeff, sustainability isn’t a side project. That’s why we’re proud to support @Food Works, a social enterprise making a tangible impact on both people and the planet.
Food Works is a Sheffield-based not-for-profit tackling food waste and food insecurity, using surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.
So how do they do this? Food Works has two local community cafés, where donated food is upcycled by their expert chefs into healthy and affordable options for locals to enjoy, using a ‘pay what you can afford’ system to ensure affordability for all. Produce boxes are also available for purchase at Food Works’ market, using their ‘pay what you can afford’ system, and they have a keen focus on hyperlocal food production through community growing on their dedicated farm.
Kiril Mischeff has been a supporter of Food Works since 2024. So far, in 2025 we have donated 2.5 tonnes of food, which is equivalent to about 6,000 meals. According to Dan, Food Works’ Senior Food Supply Coordinator ‘the support from our partners is invaluable to supporting our mission of ending food waste and challenging the food system to be more sustainable. Having partners like Kiril Mischeff who care about sustainability and community fits very well with our ethos. We are very grateful for their contributions. Their surplus food contributions help us to produce thousands of healthy meals each month.
It is also worth noting that aside from supporting us with food, some members of their team are also regular customers at our cafes because they believe in what we do. Who doesn’t want a delicious hot meal prepared by our chefs that is made entirely from surplus food we saved from going to landfill!
We look forward to our ongoing partnership with them as we are helping to make the world and our communities a better place to be. Food is the best way to bring people together over common interests. We encourage anyone to touch base and pay us a visit!’
Through our ongoing food donations, Food Works has been able to:
- Serve thousands of meals made with surplus food (on average they serve over 7000 meals per month!)
- Reduce CO₂ emissions from food waste
- Support vulnerable households in accessing healthy food
Not only does this support the local community, but it also supports Kiril Mischeff’s own sustainability goals by:
- Reducing surplus food waste
- Supporting local communities to build local and equitable food systems
- Advancing the circular food economy
Every donation is a step toward responsible resource use and social value creation and is a win-win for people and planet.
