What is the difference between coconut milk and coconut cream?

It’s really just a question of consistency. With a higher fat ratio, coconut cream is thicker and richer than coconut milk. Both are made in a similar way, by grating the coconut flesh and then working it with water – but coconut milk is mixed with more water to produce a thinner consistency, while coconut cream is left thick and luxurious.

How is coconut cream used in cooking?

Again, its uses are similar to that of coconut milk. A staple of Asian cuisine, coconut cream is used as a base ingredient for many sauces and curries, ideal when a thicker consistency is required.

It can also be used in a wide range of desserts, with its consistency similar to that of regular heavy cream.

Is coconut cream healthy?

With high levels of saturated fat (and indeed higher fat content than coconut milk), coconut cream could hardly be described as a health product – but it’s fine to enjoy as part of a balanced diet.

The high fat content is simply due to the fact that coconut itself is high in fat, and coconut cream isn’t as diluted as coconut milk.
