FAQ
What is deionised apple?
Deionised apple juice is a natural sweetener, made by heating apple juice concentrate at high temperature and then filtering it.
It has a high sugar content, but no taste at all – which means it can be added to all manner of food and drink products without any trace of apple flavour.
Why use deionised apple juice instead of sugar?
There’s increasing pressure on food and drink manufacturers to reduce the quantity of sugar that’s added to their products – or at least to use sugar from natural sources such as fruit.
Crucially, using deonised apple juice as a sweetener means you can label the product with claims like ‘100% natural fruit sugars’, rather than having to declare the inclusion of traditional sugar.
What does deionised apple juice look like?
The deionisation process strips the apple juice concentrate of all its characteristics – so it’s a completely colourless liquid. We can supply it in a range of formats, ranging from a small aseptic bag in box, to an IBC that carries 1000kg.
