FAQ

How is IQF apricot made?

The apricots are first picked, peeled and the stones removed, then the fruit is cut to the required specification (either cut into halves or sliced and diced to a variety of sizes).

The fruit is then flash frozen in these individual pieces, to create a free-flowing product.

Why buy IQF apricots?

The IQF process brings a host of benefits to food manufacturers, firstly helping to lock-in the apricots’ natural goodness, flavour and colour. IQF ingredients also promote sustainability and result in less food waste, because you can defrost and use the exact quantities you require at any given time.

Most importantly, each piece of IQF apricot remains identifiable (rather than being blended into a jam or a puree for instance). It’s therefore an ideal ingredient for any end product that requires real pieces of fruit to be visible.

Is IQF apricot healthy?

Apricots are noted as a great source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, particularly rich in vitamin A and potassium. By freezing the apricots as quickly as possible after picking, they retain as much of this nutritional value as possible. Indeed, it’s a common misconception that frozen fruit is less nutritious than fresh. Where fresh fruit loses nutritional value over time, frozen fruit locks in the goodness for longer.

What other IQF fruits are available from Kiril Mischeff?

As well as our IQF apricots, we offer a wide range of other IQF fruits including strawberries, blueberries, apple, banana and many more. We also supply a great selection of IQF vegetables, ideal for ready meals and other savoury products where identifiable vegetable pieces are required.
