What are IQF raspberries?

IQF raspberries are quick-frozen at extremely low temperatures to ensure a free-flowing product and to preserve maximum flavour and colour in each berry.

This makes them an ideal ingredient for jellies, yogurts, desserts and ice creams, where identifiable pieces of raspberry are required.

IQF raspberry crumb is a finer product, ideal when smaller pieces of raspberry are required – for instance in cereal bars or confectionary.

FAQs

What are IQF raspberries?

IQF stands for ‘Individually Quick Frozen’ which is a process of rapidly freezing individual pieces of fruit or vegetables so that they retain their natural flavour and nutritional value. Doing so offers several benefits, including convenience since they don’t require any additional preparation and have a longer shelf life compared to fresh berries. The freezing process also preserves more of the fruit’s natural vitamins and minerals.

What can IQF raspberries be used for?

IQF raspberries can be used in a variety of dishes, such as smoothies, pies, salads, jams and jellies. They can also be used as a snack, as they are lower in sugar than many other snacks. They are nutritious and are a great source of dietary fibre, vitamin C, iron and manganese. They also contain polyphenols, which can have beneficial effects on a person’s health. IQF raspberries can make a great topping for yoghurt and breakfast cereals, and they can also be used to decorate cakes and other desserts.

Where do IQF raspberries come from?

IQF raspberries from Kiril Mischeff are available from a range of origins one of which is Scotland. They suit a wide range of applications and can be supplied whole, whole and broken or as a raspberry crumb – which is a finer product that is ideal when smaller pieces of raspberry are required, for instance, in cereal bars or confectionery. They are supplied in 10kg packs.
