What is plum puree?
Plum puree is made simply by applying a gentle heat treatment to the peeled, pitted fruit to break down some of the insoluble fibres. The fruit is then pushed through a fine sieve for a smooth final product.
In retaining all of the plum’s natural juice and flesh, the puree maintains the fruit’s delicate balance of sweet, tart flavours, as well as its nutritional value.

What is plum puree?
Plum puree is a versatile ingredient that can be used in many recipes, from desserts to sauces. It is made of ripe plums that are cooked, mashed and strained to remove the skins and seeds. The result is a puree that is thicker than plum sauce – it is also less sweet and more concentrated than plum jam, which has added sugar. Plum puree can also be used as a base for sauces, marinades, dressings and dips. It can also add sweetness and tanginess to savoury dishes, such as meatballs, stews, curries and roasts. It is also a popular ingredient for making ice cream, sorbet, pudding, custard and cheesecake. It can also be drizzled over pancakes, waffles and yoghurt.
What are the benefits of plum puree?
Plum puree is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium and fibre. It can help improve digestion, lower blood pressure and cholesterol. The puree can be used as a substitute for oil, butter or eggs in some recipes, such as cakes, muffins, brownies and cookies. It can also add moisture, flavour and colour to baked goods. The product’s natural sweetness can be used as a healthier alternative to adding sugars in various recipes. Indeed, it’s a versatile ingredient that can be used in both sweet and savoury dishes, adding a rich, fruity flavour to a variety of recipes.
