How is redcurrant concentrate made?

To make redcurrant concentrate, the redcurrants are juiced and then heated to evaporate a significant proportion of the berry’s water content.

The concentrated solution (which is six times the strength of a regular juice but considerably reduced in volume) is then easier for food and drink manufacturers to transport in bulk before it is bought back to regular strength by re-adding water at the final processing point.

Contrary to popular belief, redcurrant juice from concentrate still retains much the same nutritional profile as an NFC juice.
