Redcurrant concentrate is available from Kiril Mischeff at 64° to 66° Brix.
Full of the natural flavour and colour of juicy redcurrants, it makes an ideal ingredient in the manufacture of juice drinks, smoothies, jams and jellies.
How is redcurrant concentrate made?
To make redcurrant concentrate, the redcurrants are juiced and then heated to evaporate a significant proportion of the berry’s water content.
The concentrated solution (which is six times the strength of a regular juice but considerably reduced in volume) is then easier for food and drink manufacturers to transport in bulk before it is bought back to regular strength by re-adding water at the final processing point.
Contrary to popular belief, redcurrant juice from concentrate still retains much the same nutritional profile as an NFC juice.
