Jackfruit Supplier

Always at the forefront of the latest food trends, Kiril Mischeff is now a Jackfruit supplier.

The new vegan, vegetarian and flexitarian meat alternative, jackfruit is a large fruit with a fibrous texture like pulled pork and a similar pod format to that of a fig. It’s commonly flavoured with BBQ, Chinese or Indian flavours and used as a meat substitute – but can also be used in bakery goods, ice cream, beverages and desserts.

Our ‘Young Jackfruit in Water’ product is therefore ideal for food manufacturers and food service companies, allowing you to manipulate the taste to your own requirement.

It comes from a BRC A-grade factory in Thailand, packed in 6 x 2.4kg plain / bright cans, and as one of the UK’s first jackfruit suppliers, we’ve got it here in the UK and ready to go right away.

Samples and specifications are available on request, or you can place an order for jackfruit with our sales team on +44 (0) 1909 534 000.

Ask a Question

    Is jackfruit good for you?

With plenty of vitamin C, potassium and dietary fibre (plus lots of other vitamins and minerals) jackfruit is hailed by many as something of a superfood.

It’s also rich in anti-oxidants, and surprisingly high in protein for a fruit. In fact, it provides more than three times the amount of protein contained in similar fruits, such as mangoes and pineapples.

Why is jackfruit a good meat alternative?

Aside from its high protein content, jackfruit makes a great meat alternative due to its fibrous texture and relatively bland flavor which lends itself to taking up other flavours and seasonings. Once braised, it can be pulled apart just like pulled pork – and it’s brilliant at absorbing sauce flavours too.

Young jackfruit in particular is ideal as a meat replacement.

    What is ‘young’ jackfruit?

When jackfruit is young (less ripe) it has a more neutral flavour and stringy texture – which makes it ideal for that pulled pork effect.

As the jackfruit ripens, it becomes sweeter, with a taste not too dissmilar to pineapple. Riper jackfruit is therefore used more commonly for sweet dishes and desserts.

Several different types of jackfruit are available from Kiril Mischeff.

What are good alternatives to jackfruit?

With the vegan lifestyle increasing in popularity, jackfruit isn’t the only meat alternative to hit the market lately. Banana blossom is another great vegan and vegetarian option, with its flaky texture making it an ideal substitute for chicken or fish when suitable seasoning flavours are added.

It can be eaten raw or cooked, and like jackfruit, can be applied to a wide range of different foods.
