We work with processing partners in Ecuador, Indonesia, Ghana, Philippines, and the Maldives (to name but a few!) to source our tuna. Around 160T of tuna is caught per day and, once processed, this can take up to 22 days to reach Felixstowe, UK.
At Kiril-Mischeff, we are always looking to the future. Recyclable pouch packaging is a recent trend within the world of packaging, and we are pleased to offer our tuna in this innovative and sustainable option. We can also supply tuna in cans.
The two main varieties of tuna that we supply are Skipjack Tuna (main UK demand) and Yellow Fin Tuna. Skipjack is what we find as canned chunks, flakes and steaks in our supermarkets, and is often available in brine, sunflower oil, and water. A Skipjack Tuna can weigh up to 35kg. Yellow Fin Tuna is a significantly larger variety, weighing in at up to 200kg and often reaching over 2m in length. This tuna can be found in cans but is more commonly found in the fresh and frozen aisles of our supermarkets, or served as tuna steaks.
We are also proud to offer MSC labelled Skipjack Tuna. Tuna carrying the MSC blue fish tick is certified sustainable and can be traced all the way back to an MSC certified fishery.

Kiril Mischeff tuna is MSC certified, which is a label that can only be applied to wild fish or seafood that meet the MSC Fisheries Standard. This is a set of requirements for sustainable fishing.
This means that our tuna has come from a fishery that has been independently assessed on its impact to tuna populations and the eco system they’re part of.
