How is raspberry puree made?

Ripened raspberries are gently heated until they break down, before the reduced fruit is then pushed through a fine sieve for a wonderfully smooth end product.

With such little processing, the puree retains the natural colour and flavour of the raspberry, as well as the nutritional value of the berry – which is packed with vitamin C, manganese and dietary fibre.

FAQs

What is raspberry puree?

Raspberry puree is a smooth and thick liquid made from raspberries and can be used for making sauces, desserts, drinks and more. Raspberry puree is prepared by using either fresh or frozen raspberries which have been washed and then slowly brought to a boil. The contents are blended before being passed through a sieve and then cooled. Raspberry puree is also a good choice when adding to other fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and cherries to create different flavours and colours.

What are the benefits of raspberry puree?

Raspberry puree has many benefits, including being rich in antioxidants, such as polyphenols, bioflavonoids and vitamin C. The puree is also a good source of fibre and it’s low in calories and sugar. Raspberries have been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times and are one of the most popular berries in the UK. The puree can be added to a baby’s diet from the age of six months, either on its own or mixed with other purees, such as apple, pear or banana. Raspberry puree has a relatively low glycaemic index, meaning it can help regulate blood sugar levels when consumed as part of a balanced diet.
